Recently I have been listening to black metal. Here a few of my favorites:

Burzum. Varg Vikernes has been convicted of burning down multiple churches and stabbing someone to death. I find his music strangely relaxing:

Mutiilation. I sometimes listen to this when I am pissed off, and it just makes me more pissed off.

Yeesh, this really didn't need bumped for a discussion about music (which wasn't even mentioned here before).

It was related to the other thread because of black metal's stance on Christianity.

Anyway, we could turn this into a "what are you listening to today" thread where people post youtube links.

Can't say I'm much of a Metal fan. Especially the really hard stuff or the stuff with the howling and screaming. A few of my friends like it but I just can't get into it at all.

The only Metal I really like is Symphonic Metal. Some examples would be..
Fairyland

Rhapsody

and perhaps you could say Nightwish is in that same ballpark though not quite the same type of music

As for what I've been listening to lately?

I find myself popping in my "Paramore" or "Huey Lewis and the News" cds the most when I'm driving around in my car.

Well, I like some metal, but I'm not into that wicked hardcore stuff either. The most "hardcore" example I can think of is probably Metallica for me.

I haven't really been listening or been into one particular band lately. Never was like that. Some of my favorite bands include The Police, Counting Crows, Guns N Roses, amongst others. I like Nightwish (earlier stuff, before the change in singer) as well. But I'm not usually in the mood for one or two bands in particular, I'm usually rather open about my favorites when it comes to music.

On the metal front, i like a bit of Megadeth and Soulfly every now and then

But im more of an Indie / Altern Rock enjoyer. Groups like Kasabian, Animal Collective, Cursive, Guillemots, Bat For Lashes, Wave Machines and Bombay Bicycle Club to name some examples
I absolutely love most aspects of the Brit-Pop movement in the '90's, bands like Blur, Pulp, Cast, Oasis, Kula Shaker and Suede

I like a lot of varying types of alternative and alt. rock as well.

Some of the artists I like are Moloko, Bjork, as well as her old band "The Sugarcubes", Nine Inch Nails particularly the early NIN material, and more recently Paramore, JET, and Franz Ferdinand.

Some other groups I wanna check out soon are The Dead Weather and Metric I've heard them on the radio and like the song I've heard from each of them so far.

I liked a couple of Oasis' old hits (Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova) but never got into anything else by them. Good songs though.
