If anyone knows what I'm talking about, its a series of 2D action games published many years ago on the MSX, Genesis, PC Engine Super CD, and SNES (the best games being on the PCE, especially the Valis 1 remake) made by semi-obscure developer Telenet, who also made Sol-Feace I believe.

Anyways their website (http://www.telenet.co.jp/) is still around for some reason despite the fact that they've fallen into obscurity. The only modern console game the have listed on their page is enjoy golf for the PS2 which I will assume is crap. Everything else is crappy titles (Slot Pro, Parlor Pro, Pachinko, Mahjong Party, Tenpai Mahjong) whose entire genres have never seen the light of day outside Japan, a Valis 1 cell phone port, and something that appears to be porn (I'm not going ot verify it).

http://www.bb5.jp/pr/valis/ Warning pixelated anime porn alert

You may notice a banner at the top of their page with pictures of the Valis heroines in the background. It moves too quickly for me to get a chance to read it, but basically its just an ad for Valis X. Telenet is a bunch of whores, they've sold the Valis series to Japanese adult software company who have turned a respectable series into smut.

People always complain of their favorite game getting a crappy sequel...they don't know how bad it can get :irritate:

It's side-scroller in the vein of NES Castlevanias or Zelda II, but without RPG elements. You should check it out.

I've Played them Before on the Sega Genesis, I've played Valis 1, Valis 3 and Syd of Valis(Which is really called SD Valis)

but yeah, they were fun side scrolling anime-style games, where you as a young teenager girl with long blue hair named Yuko Ahso

but that sucks thet a new company is gonna bastardize the franchise

But anyway, If any of you wanna check out these games you can get the genesis ones on emulation at

http://www.romnation.net

Heres a Pic of the 3 Main Characters, Yuko (Long Blue Haired Girl), Valna (Girl with the light blue hair and staff) and Cham ( Red hair Elf Girl with the horn sticking out of her ears and has a castlevania-like whip)

I tracked down the genesis games on romnation and tried them Valis, Valis III and Valis Syd. The games seem kind of on the tough side (except syd which seems quite easy) They are kind of fun though. I got up to the third area (lava) of Valis I before leaving for school this morning. The first boss was very difficult on my first attempt but then I played through the level again and found the third sword power up which gives you the spreading attacks and that made the boss much easier. The dialogue was alittle on the lame side but its an early genesis game so what can you expect. I saw the genesis Valis I on ebay for 10 bucks after shipping. I might get it.

I found these on YouTube the other day, they are the English Intro's to Valis 2 and Valis 3 for the PCE Turbo Duo CD featuring English voice acting.

Be warned, some of the english voice acting in these can be disturbing, while not quite as awful as the english Bomberman Jetters Gamecube game, but the valis english voice acting can be a little disturbing, but not too bad.

If anyone is interested, a few days after I posted this somebody did an excellent article which sums up my thoughts on the issue completely. You can find it here: http://www.sega-16.com/Valis-%20Fall%20of%20a%20Franchise.htm

I've been playing those genesis roms i downloaded. I'd like to say that you've introduced me to an interesting series Kuttlas and now when i get all into it I'll be angry because the series was ruined....

*sigh*

I played as Cham in part 3 and I thought that this series might be right up my brother's alley. Being the big castlevania fan that he is. Anyone have an idea of what a reasonable price for a turbo duo or a PC Engine is? Or where I mgiht find one other then Ebay? I think I might just get into this.
