Hi y'all, I'm going to use this thread to share custom music pieces of mine that use the Bomberman 64 soundfont. This is probably great news for the 10 other B64 fans on the globe.

I'm happy to announce that I just finished my longest piece yet (only about a minute lol) and I'm very happy with how it turned out! I'm not sure what exactly to call it, but it was inspired by the Advertise theme, so for I'm calling it "Advertise 2" lmao.

Here is a Jumpshare link to the .wav file:
https://jumpshare.com/share/Z7nHsvf4Nc44P6QOHp7g

How was it created?
I like using signal as my MIDI editor and this is the same editor I worked with when creating this song. As you can guess, the song was originally made in MIDI format (allows me to use the B64 soundfont which I have stored in .sf2 format). I also like the MIDI format because the N64 uses type 0 MIDI's- while I don't use type 0 (no point in me doing this), it feels a little authentic to create the music like this.

I'm still learning how to make this soundfont sound great, discovering what instruments sound good with each other, etc.. I took a LOT of inspiration from various tracks in the game.

I hope you guys like it! I intend to bring more  .

That's pretty cool! I always enjoyed B64's soundfont. Looking forward to more of your work!

Maybe some TSA songs in the 64 soundfont in the future?

Maybe! I'll be honest I don't know much about TSA but from the little bits of music I have heard, it's pretty good stuff. I'd love to try a port with the soundfont one day.

Wow, that was a good one. Had an almost medley-like flow to it.

So this is what that drum loop thing was for... Hyehye!
This is so groovy. I can hear the Green Garden and White Winter all over the place.
And that opening was so Rainbow Palace!

=A=

I actually remember, there was another fellow that did a little something with the BM64 sound font, but besides you and him I haven't seen much people use it for anything...
Which is a shame, it sounds so good! If I could, I would definitely give it a shot too.

I look forward to hearing your future creations.

I haven’t seen really anyone else (other than the fella you sent) using the soundfont either! That made it all the more exciting to play around with the instruments and create new pieces.

The drum loop indeed played a big roll in this piece lol. But, I still plan on isolating and quantizing the loops from a bunch of the other songs too (like stage select and white glacier which I believe share a loop). Imo the drums are one of the most recognizable and important parts of the B64 soundtrack.

It seems like some of y'all enjoyed this piece (thank you  ) so I am going to continue this thread and upload some more pieces!

Today, I'm going to show off 3 smaller/simpler pieces. These were the firsts! Before Advertise 2 came these little songs.

Groovy Stage Select Loop

Stage/Boss Intro (?)

A Lengthier and Cute Game Over Theme

I wanna talk a little about each piece and explain the significance/what makes them special to me.

Groovy Stage Select Loop: This song will always hold a special place in my heart- this was the very first song I created using the B64 soundfont! This was created in a MIDI editor called Synthfont (which I found extremely tedious). It's neat in that the drum loop is not from B64, and this is also the only piece I've made using a pitch bend (this is because I can't figure out pitch bends in the signal MIDI editor   and Synthfont made it surprisingly doable).

Stage/Boss Intro (?): This short song was actually made in musescore! It's not really the best software for making this kind of music and there are limitations, but it does support .sf2 soundfont files and being a pianist, I am able to read and write sheet music. This one is cool to me because although short, it feels like an improvement from the first and I tried out new instruments and melodies.

A Lengthier and Cute Game Over Theme: I'll be honest, this isn't a favourite of mine, but I think it's important to share and include here. Not every song is gonna be great and that's ok! That's part of improvement. I'm not a perfect composer, and some of my pieces are better than others. I think it's an important message for people to know :peace: . I do think there are cute parts to the song and I like the chord progressions, I just think it could've used better overall composition.

I hope you all enjoy these! I'll have to think about what kind of song/theme I should do next...

Glad to hear you plan to do more!

They all sound unique enough I can see them fitting great in more games too.

These are really good. The game over one makes me think of some kind of Bomberman fantasy RPG. That'd be amazing.
