Hello guys. I've been out of the loop a long time now...
I've been mostly into Steam games these days between all the anime and indie stuff I find on there. My gaming tastes have gravitating even more lopsided to anime-style games and the occasional old-school stuff for my collection of consoles (mostly RPGs). Been spending some time with my PC Engine too on and off.
Anyway it looks like you guys have been really enjoying this new Bomberman offering in my lurking the past month or so. Sounds great! I'm happy for us all that we've finally got something new sparking so much interest.
My brother just got a Switch this week so we may be checking out Bomerman R at some point. The Puyo-Tetris game is a lot of fun tho, we spent an hour or so with that yesterday, ha ha.
Super Bomberman R, former Switch exclusive, might be getting a PS4 port
A Korean rating suggests so
Super Bomberman R was a rare recent showing for Konami. Despite its outrageous price it was a pretty fun game, didn't have microtransactions, and doled out a ton of free content after its launch.
At this point a lot of Switch owners have picked it up via the bargain bin, but now non-Switch owners might be able to get in on the action. According to the Korean Ratings Board, R is now bounding off the Switch and is PS4-bound.
It's weird to see Bomberman bouncing around so much from place to place, starting life on various PCs, then heading to Nintendo platforms for a long while, then making its home on the Xbox Live Arcade before going back to Nintendo. At least he's still around!
Also, this article (thanks, ShaolinTurtle) seems to indicate that he may still be from Phantarion in the SBR canon! I'm super happy at the attention to details like this, something that was only mentioned in one game almost 20 years ago exclusively in NPC dialogue (even Ragey missed it when he first played).
EDIT: Oh yeah, also, it looks like there's a new game mode (king of the hill?), and in the final scene, in the background, there are five new banners that appear to indicate other new (non-exclusive) characters: Snake, Raiden, and Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid, as well as Bill and Lance from Contra.
