Hi all. Hope your holidays and new year went well. Time for another update.
I have managed to track down a few things of interest. Right before Christmas I had some down time and thought I would take a look at some auction sites. By complete fluke, I found another copy of Collection Vol. 2. I'm still a bit stunned because it was just there...another copy, just like that. Not long after, I had the luck of discovering a listing for the Japanese version of Vol. 1. Quite interesting!!!!
Spoiler:
Now I tried to dump my new Vol. 2 and Vol. 1 but ran into errors. I believe I mentioned this previously, but it gets to around 99% complete when it runs into some kind of fatal error, and complete ISOs cannot be made. I am unsure what the issue is. I am going to reach out to my pal in the ReDump community who helped me previously. Now that 3 different discs are showing this problem, it increases our odds of solving it. In the mean time, I did fully install the game on my PC and copied the files, so those are available for Vol. 1 now.
Hi all. Just a short post. Had some help from someone at Redump to get working .bin and .cues of Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Apparently there is some kind of unique security on the discs. It essentialy creates 'empty sectors' of data so even though there are no files there, the disc still needs those empty spaces read in order to play it. Weird huh?
So they helped me get a working dump. They have been slightly modified in that, the empty sectors should be removed but all normal, functioning files are still available. So they should run just fine but let me know if you encounter anything. I added them to the archive pages. Thanks for the patience on that pals!
Hi all. Just a quick pop in. Another mobile Bomberman game has been preserved! This time it's Bomberman Kart Special!
This is playable through Keitai World Launcher. I communicate with some of the folks there on occasion and help purchase phones if a Bomberman appears in the wild (which isn't very often.)
Also, here's a link if you just want to download the Bomberman mobile games saved thus far: Bomberman Games Edit: I've only helped with one or two games, I just put together all the games the community found on this link.
Hey all. Quick update today. In Kuusou Kagaku Sekai Gulliver Boy for the PC-Engine CD, there is a poster of Black Bomberman as a cameo. It's about an hour into the game. After you complete the first dungeon, you take a boat to a town called the Kingdom of Venice. Inside the first building is the room with this poster.
Hi all! Some years ago, I played through the Bomberman B-Daman GBC games. In the first game, Victory heno Michi, I was able to unlock all mechs and cards except for No. 30. I had been using Ragey's scan of the guidebook to help me along but for this one mech, the guidebook gave me practically nothing. Look at this excerpt:
Roughly translated with Google, it says this:
"A special armor for Yellow Bomber that can only be obtained by clearing certain conditions. The silhouette is similar to the YL Shooter, but its abilities are shrouded in mystery."
You can imagine my frustration at this. These are the kind of cryptic, old-school mysteries that remain unsolved for decades. Despite this, the shining beacon of resilience lies in the internet and the random acts of fellow humans on it. I was recently emailed by someone named Alter John who told me the secret:
You have to lose 25 times in a link up battle.
What an oddly specific thing to have to do! Well, being the ever obsessive person I am, I set up the emulator bgb and went to work. Lo and behold: it worked! At exactly 25 losses in multiplayer, you unlock No. 30. I made sure to continue checking my deck at intervals and can confirm this. On the contrary, 25 wins will not unlock it either, it specifically has to be losses. What in the...
Anywho, here's the description screenshot for the mech:
Per Google: "Yellow Shooter, using her specialty in disguise, pretends to be Kurobon."
This is quite a hilarious reference. In the first Bakugaiden anime, Yellow does indeed impersonate Black Bomber by painting Yellow Shooter completely black. What a hoot to see that here in the game!
Well that was a long story for a single thing, but I found it quite entertaining. I have archived a complete save file for the game (with No. 30 unlocked) so if anyone wants to try it out, I have saved you the trouble. Until next time!
Losing 25 times to get Yellow's special mech is a direct attack on his character
Words can't express how much I enjoy reading about these obscure discoveries
I am glad to hear that! It's not often I find something worth sharing anymore, but when I do, I make sure to come here and log it in detail. That's the entire reason I started this thread years ago. So many obscure little things in the Bomberman world worth finding and I'm glad to be able to share it. Appreciate it.
