Hi, my name is AG_Bomberguy (AKA AG_SunGuy on discord). I am here to show the footages and the source code for my (temporarily) paused/discontinued GameMaker Studio 2 remake of Atomic Bomberman. The original game is known as the black sheep among the other entries in Bomberman franchise for its quite absurd humor, prerendered graphics and the unused swearing voicelines. The remake aimed on improving and expanding upon the original game, such as reworking the explosion flames to include "fade in" and "fade out" animation transitions to make it easier to react and dodge, as the original explosion flames were extremely punishing in nature and would always kill players the second it materializes. Or reworking powerups like trigger bombs to make them have a short delay before explosion. There was a lot planned for the game. But because i am now studying in uni, this may be a little more ambitious, i plan continuing the game if i have enough free time. But i wanna give the source code so that people can have a free template for anyone to make a bomberman game however they want (or continue my remake if one person wishes to). Here's some youtube video footages for the remake as an examples of the changes from the original game i listed and the source code link:
want to have contacts?
I have contact on twitter: https://x.com/AtomGamerdude
or if you want talk to me on discord: arisedgamer_indiedev (send the friend request to do so)
Nice work. There's a few other people here remaking old games as well (which you probably knew from seeing the forums lol). I'm an indie dev balancing a full-time job, otherwise I'd be willing to contribute myself.
thanks indigo bomber! I am actually an indie dev as well, i develop my own original game project inspired by beat em ups and old classic platformers, the atomic bomberman gamemaker studio 2 remake was just a side hobby, i dont wanna rush to develop it as fast as possible. And... there werent any actual good modern template projects people could use for GMS2 to make their own bomberman game. So thats why i posted the link to my GMS2 remake if someone wants a quick start to make their own bomberman game or continue my remake if somebody wishes to. Life in Uni wouldnt allow me to develop the project fast, so this is why i gave the source code for anyone who has free time to use my project as template for another fangame or to continue my work.
I hear you. I wrote a concept doc for a Bomberman game a while back, one that was way too ambitious for me to even work on as a hobby. Releasing the source code is a fantastic way to give the project a better chance at life or even just attract volunteers. Hoping someone picks up on yours. The active fans are a real dedicated bunch, and right now it feels like we pretty much carry the franchise on our backs.
Thats cool but... I am sorry mauricio. Unfortunately, i am not really interested in that project. Especially when it uses ai slop art instead of human art. Mine is meant to be a template for making games in GMS 2 and for remaking Atomic Bomberman specifically.

Nice. This looks good BomberGuy! It reminds me of some those browser Bomberman games. I could see people playing this online.
Appreciate it! I hope maybe someone could pick this up and make their own game or their own remake of atomic bomberman using my project's source code, also, this game would need to be developed a little more to reach that satisfactory form for it to be played in a long term.
