Has anyone ever managed to activate this easter egg?

The game supposedly includes a secret feature where you can put the programmer Kurt Dekker’s head on Bomberman’s body by entering the controller combo “Up, X, B, Left.” There’s even a reference to it in the game’s code (in BM95.EXE), which means it should be possible to trigger it somehow.
I tried doing it myself, but nothing happened.

I even found out that on the Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad (which, according to Kurt, was used during Atomic’s development), “X” corresponds to Button 4 and “B” to Button 2. I tried entering the combo several more times on my Xbox Wireless Gamepad, but still no luck. :stun:

After a quick look, some things that might or might not be helpful (I'm pretty much blind guessing):

1. Possibly it might have to do with D-pad mapping vs. analog stick. Supposedly you should be using the d-pad for the code if you aren't already.

2. After a bit more digging, I got this (no idea if this is correct or not):
"The cheat code is based on the button symbols (X and B), not their internal numerical designation. Therefore, you still need to press the button physically labeled "X" and the button physically labeled "B" on the Sidewinder, in the sequence: Up, X, B, Left.

The internal numbering (Button 4, Button 2) is just how the operating system or drivers identify the button presses and does not affect the game's recognition of the specific button symbols required by the code."

3. On some controllers, A, B, X, and Y are in different places. When I play Steam games, I have to configure Y as X and X as Y on the one I use.

Hopefully that was some help. :perplex:
