They're laughing because Bomberman got the short end of the stick. At least they got retired before their designs got warped into crap or stuff like that.
...although if they made a revamp of the 64 games like they did with Super Mario 64, that would be very, very nice. Or even a sequel, I'd settle for that. If they did both I'd be comatose with joy for about a week.
