Artemis stuck to the shadows and made her way past fearsome-looking statues to a gigantic door.
Altair and Sirius were standing in front of it, contemplating whether to enter or not.
She suddenly noticed a creature made completely of darkness about to pounce on both of them, and swung.
The clang of metal on stone was clearly audible as she struck, but it had the desired effect-the creature was sliced cleanly in half, and melted back into the shadows, showing no trace it had ever been there.
She shrugged and investigated the nooks and crannies around, finding and sliding into her backpack a stone carving of an ancient god with glittering rubies for eyes and decorated with gold.
She also took a wooden key from a nearby alcove, perfectly preserved in an amber liquid, feeling it might be useful.
Artemis turned to them both. "Are we going?" |
